Richard Keys has criticized the ‘greedy Glazers’ for choosing the wrong co-owner of Manchester United as they watch Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘destroy’ the club after failing to do the ‘right’ thing by sell to Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
United’s tactics off the field are currently as much in question as those on the field. Sporting director was unveiled on December 8 Then Ashworth would leave his role after only joining the club in the summer.
United have also changed managers before, from Erik ten Hag to Ruben Amorim, but have taken a step back after moving one forward, with the 13th-placed side recently losing to Nottingham Forest.
The Red Devils now have to look for a new director, while they also hope that things will improve on the field. Outspoken pundit Keys has criticized the ‘greedy Glazers’ for their decision to leave Ratcfliffe close to the club, suggesting his rival Sheikh Jassim would have been better.
He wrote on his blog: ‘Ever since Sunny Jim came into town and, for reasons unknown to me, was greeted as a hero – the deal was a mess, Sunny Jim was the wrong guy and what’s happening now at OT is a mess.
‘How many weeks ago did I post a video showing what he has been doing at two other clubs in the INEOS stable – Lausanne and Nice?
“Didn’t anyone do any homework on Sunny Jim? As Ratcliffe and the brain trust continue to destroy Mediocre United (Ratcliffe’s words in that interview last week, not mine), I wonder what the club would look like today if the Glazers had done the right thing and sold to Sheikh bin Hamad Al Thani?
‘Can I ask the question again? Why not? Only people close to the deal know the real answer, but some things always slip through the cracks and I’ve heard that every time the Sheikh agreed to the Glazers’ terms, they moved the goalposts.
“Every time – to the point where closing a deal became a farce. Why did my Arab friends get a run-around? Think about it. The clue could be in that penultimate sentence.’

Keys is not the only man currently dropping out at United, as their former right-back Gary Neville also suggests the club has done wrong latelywith their dismissal of Ashworth taking center stage.
“Dan Ashworth was hounded for many, many months. He was paid millions of pounds so I’m really shocked that this happened. It doesn’t look good at all and it’s going to need some explanation,” Neville said.
“The statement they made is really bad. What’s really clear here is that there is a rift.
“Fans will ask the question: what went wrong? They will speculate, it will leave huge gaps (of information).
‘I think you’d better hit us in the face with the truth every now and then. Just tell us because it’s obvious something happened. I think that explanation is weak, to be honest.
Following Ashworth’s sacking, United will have to look for a new sporting director, although it is believed that Jason Wilcox will take on many of his roles in the meantime.
TEAMtalk is aware of this a series of feuds led to Ashworth’s dismissalincluding that he wanted one of Eddie Howe, Graham Potter or Gareth Southgate to be the next boss, but Omar Berrada’s suggestion of Amorim won over the board.
Meanwhile, United are still looking to improve on the pitch, and they are I want to sign Victor Osimhen in January.
